William McCormack Place is a 10 storey Queensland Government office building located in Cairns. The building has been designed with Cairns' tropical climate at the forefront of the decision making process. William McCormack Place has been designed to obtain the highest energy efficiency rating of any building located in the Australian tropics.
William McCormack Place has achieved a 6 Star Green Star - Office Design v2 Certified Rating from the Green Building Council of Australia, representing 'World Leadership' in environmentally sustainable design. The project is also registered for a 6 Star Green Star As-Built v2 Rating and for a Green Star Office Interiors v1.1 Rating.
Viridis E3 were engaged by the contractor, Laing O'Rourke, to perform a variety of roles for both the Office Design v2 and Office As-Built submissions. For the Office Design submission Viridis provided sustainability expertise to create an Innovation Report, develop and submit Credit Interpretation Requests to the GBCA and perform a Peer Review of the completed submission before being assessed by the GBCA for the design rating.
Viridis E3 has adopted a strategic management role for the As-Built submission offering guidance to the project team. The As-Built guidance has involved monthly site audits by Viridis staff members to ensure progress on the As-Built submission and providing commissioning guidance to facilitate an efficient commissioning process for William McCormack Place.
